FACILITIES We are located in the fourth floor of Engineering North and second floor of Advanced Technology Research Center-Stillwater.  All the laboratories are furnished with multiple fume hoods, sinks, storage cabinets (independent acid, base, corrosive and flammable cabinets), refrigerators (-20ºC and a -80ºC).

Flow Cytometry.  We have a Becton Dickinson FACSCalibur flow cytomter. It is equipped with a low-power (15mW) argon laser that emits light at 488 nm as well as a low-power helium-neon diode that emits light at ~635 nm.  It has two detectors for light scatter and four detectors for fluorescence.  The optical filters on this cytometer are not interchangeable and the choices of fluorophores is constrained. Mechanical Testing.  We have an Instron mechanical testing equipment (Model 5542) with a 100 N load cell and a strain gage extensometer to perform creep analysis.  There are different grips such as pneumatic grips, compression grips, and screw grips. It is operated through Merlin 7.0 software.  There is also a custom built environmental chamber which allows testing to be performed at physiological conditions. There is a ES30P-5W/DAM Gamma High voltage equipment useful for electrospraying or electrospinning.   Through collaborative research, we have access to other laboratories on OSU campus.  We have access to Skyscan-1074 microComputer Tomography, microtome, cryomicrotome, and embedding counsel available in Nutritional Sciences.  We routinely utilize the machine shop, housed in the Physical Sciences Building, to manufacture components such as custom-designed bioreactors as required in research.  Their services are available for all faculty and students at costs of materials and modest labor charges.
